Kion "Rook" Aldwir
Dalish | Veil Jumper | Slayer
At Least 24 | Male | 5'2"

Canon-proven/implied details
- loves puns and will absolutely double down on them if someone groans
- bad cook
- likes chocolate
- doesn't seem to have the patience to suss out the workings of more fiddly or complex magic/magic devices, has in the past disabled more than one by smashing it with a rock.
- Seems to need to always be on the move, if left standing around long enough he will start fidgeting or bouncing on his heels to relieve some of the energy
- Isn't great at awkward silences, can and will fill them with humming or chatter depending on the mood.

Early Life
- Kion and his twin sister were raised by their parents and older sister as a part of Clan Aldwir, a smaller clan.
- When he was about 5 or 6, an illness ravaged the clan, killing his twin, his father, and a majority of the clan. He survived by sheer chance.
- A nearby village that was also hit by the illness blamed his clan for it as some manner of 'curse' and attacked, wiping the rest of them out, Kion only escaping by hiding.
- Found and taken in by clan Coealeth a short time after when he managed to find his way to the place they were originally meant to meet with clan Aldwir to trade.
- At about 13-14, he and companions ran afoul of a Fade Rift, only those who fled surviving the encounter.
- He took his vallaslin a couple years later with the intention of apprenticing to the clan's craftmaster. Instead wound up in an incident with old elven technology activating, which wound up with him quite far away from the clan.
- Assisted by a Veiljumper couple, Kion made the choice to stay with them rather than return and spent the next couple years with them.
- After an incident that endangered the couple, Kion took up arms to defend them, and since then pivoted from preparing to assist as a smith to learning combat to better assist in protecting Veiljumpers in the field, as well as any Dalish they might encounter who need help. History:
Over the years he was shuffled around the clan in an attempt to figure out what he might he able to do once he was old enough to need to contribute, eventually hitting on smithing as an option.

-Game-specific history.
- Chose to save Treviso, Minrathous was blighted as a result.

Personality: A spirited and gregarious elf, Kion makes friends easily thanks to his cheerful nature, and he keeps them thanks to his loyalty. His energy can make him a bit much for the more subdued sorts, especially combined with a natural playfulness. It's incredibly rare to see him still or quiet, let alone both at the same time, as if he'd vanish were he to go too long in silence.

Generally, he seems to wear his heart on his sleeve- Kion is not the sort of elf predisposed to deception, though those who spend enough time around him might notice that while he's very open with surface level details, he tends to be almost cagey with details about himself and his life before the Veil Jumpers. It doesn't seem to be a conscious thing given his typical nature, but subconscious or no, he's very avoidant about digging in to his own past and deeper feelings with others. It's hard to say how this affects him, as he typically keeps more negative emotions in check, venting them in pursuits like combat practice, or physical labor. If this fails in keeping things in check, he tends to withdraw from others as if not wanting to burden them with his problems. Hypocritical? Absolutely, but good luck getting him to admit he's even doing it, let alone recognize that he should let his companions help him as he does for them. It does tend to bleed out a bit in actual combat as anger, though he'd just shrug that off, never admit what the anger was actually about, as it hardly mattered in the moment so long as he had a healthy outlet for it.

His eager nature can make him somewhat reckless with his own wellbeing, and a willingness to trust others only compounds the risk- but he considers that worth it, would rather risk that hurt than write off someone who he could help by simply reaching out. He cares deeply about others, does what he can to protect and take care of those around him, especially those who he considers friends or family, though they might notice he tends to not take near as much care with himself.

Despite the terrible truths he's learned about his people's history, the hardships he's seen others face, and endured himself in his own life, he is passionately optimistic and believes emphatically that while there are dark times to endure, that everyone can come out the other side of it if they only come together. So he does what he can to facilitate that, reaching out to his companions in their times of need, protecting those who have no one else, to ensure that as many families as possible can get through the day whole.
Powers and abilities: Kion is generally mundane in abilities- he's a skilled fighter at this point, and generally used to scrambling around ruins and wooded terrain as most Dalish tend to be. Being raised as the craftsmaster's apprentice, he's garnered some skill as a smith, though mostly with experience for more practical repairs or creations than anything fanciful at the moment.
Chosen faction: Sylph
Suitability: Kion's home canon is pretty solidly high fantasy, granted with a bit of a darker bend than Caldera seems to have. But in general he'd adapt pretty readily to it, especially with others from back home to help him get his bearings. (But even alone he tends to be the sort to reach out and make connections so all in all he'd get along well.)

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: He's all for platonic affection in general, romantic it honestly depends on the situation.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure, but if it's going to be severe, hit me up so we can make sure everything's good.
RELATIONSHIPS: Absolutely! Canonically he romances Emmrich, but I'm open to exploring other dynamics in psls and memes.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: He doesn't have any special defenses against this to speak of at this point
MAGICAL INFORMATION: He seems normal! Though if a character has familiarity with things like blood magic, that might possibly ping on him
MEDICAL INFORMATION: He's short for an elf, but seems to be otherwise healthy, if one's looking with magic or technology that would note such things, his short stature seems to be from a combination of growing up without enough food to go around and an illness in his childhood.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Dragon Age in general touches on some unpleasant topics, including but not limited to racism, mind control, body horror, violence/torture, and slavery, and Kion's backstory specifically also touches on burning, and murder/death of both adults and children. If you'd rather have a blanket opt-out for that just comment on this post or pm me with a muselist or specific characters and if you'd like to just avoid those topics or not thread with Kion altogether. FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Kion short for an elf, with something akin to a lean boxer's build.
AURAL: Kion speaks in what's equivalent to an American accent, and reads as predictably friendly and open. He tends to sound a bit lower in tone than others might expect of him, and when needed he can muster up the sort of tone designed to cut through noise and conversation.
OLFACTORY: Kion generally keeps clean so the smell associated to him tends to be leather, cinnamon, the almond oils used to maintain his gear and hair, and a undertone of green growth and loam that seems to be baked into him at this point.
DEMEANOUR: Kion tends to carry himself with confidence, though any familiar with body language will note that it's a more open sort of thing, welcoming conversation and interaction.

Did Kion really know why he'd been invited along to Treviso? Not entirely. Cities were still a bit much to him for all he enjoyed the bustle of people at the same time. But he was definitely restless- a lot of their mission currently was information gathering which he really couldn't help much with now that plans had been made and contacts had been alerted. Which left him often enough at loose ends in the Lighthouse.

He'd not minded accepting the invitation- it was just apparently a trawl through the city and markets, nothing world-shaking, but he definitely had energy to burn, which was what had him cheerfully wandering the market district with Amaranto. Typically sticking near the taller elf to avoid being separated, but occasionally he just had to scoot off one way or the other to get a look at something interesting in a stall, or pause to gawk cheerfully at some street entertainer's impressive trick.

Ammy would have to be mindful if he didn't want to wander off without Kion on accident.

[Another day in the Fade.

Not that it had proper day or night, truly. Some places where it pressed close to the real world, it might mirror the conditions as the spirits and dreams affected the ambient magic. Some places it spun on a whim, some places where even the concept of place was tenuous, it was something that escaped proper comprehension.

It was a beautiful, but incredibly dangerous place to wind up lost in. Between the spirits, demons and creatures that called it home, the sheer fact of how simple thought could change one's surrounds, that it wasn't under any one creature's control that change. It would be so easy to accidentally think oneself out of existence, or worse, into something wrong assuming one didn't run afoul of some more malicious denizen of the Fade.

The Lighthouse was a bastion of safety in the wild sea of impossibility and wild magic. Old, steeped in a firm intent that held it together even all these years later. Safety. A bastion for those in need. Home.

So it would be unsurprising that a lost traveler would be drawn to it like a lodestone, though the current occupants were unaware of such a possibility. They knew the place was warded, ancient barriers that would keep out threats, but those lost and alone, in need of help might find themselves drawn through.

Kion was no mage to know the workings of the Lighthouse's wards. That his more knowledgeable companions confirmed it's working and stability, that it was proven by the fact that the gently drifting building and it's satellite buildings tethered by roots and stone still existed, was enough for him. That the ward protected the place from any dangerous or overly quick changes was helpful too- while the places they lived, individual rooms slowly acclimated to their occupants, the place as a whole was stable. So he didn't worry beyond that, just taking a rare moment of down time to just sit and bask in the strange mimicry of sunlight that filtered in, perched on the railing just below the large pale wolf statue that took up the central 'courtyard' area.

It was a good place to think, and would leave him easily spotted by anyone who needed him. Or anyone newly arrived to this place, not that he considered the idea of someone coming from the Fade at large, rather than the Eluvian in the basement of the Lighthouse proper.]
